PoTS & Long COVID

Dizziness, palpitations, fatigue and brain fog that worsen when upright. Real, measurable and treatable.
Many people arrive after months of tests that came back normal. That does not mean nothing is wrong. It usually means the right question has not been asked yet.

What you might be noticing

  • Light-headedness or near-fainting when you stand
  • A racing or pounding heartbeat
  • Fatigue and brain fog that follow you through the day
  • Breathlessness, chest discomfort or tremor
  • Symptoms that worsen with heat, after meals or after illness

How the assessment works

A first consultation of up to 30 minutes, a symptom score, and lying and standing measurements. Where it helps, a tilt-table test, ambulatory ECG and echocardiogram follow to rule other causes in or out.

What we look for alongside it

PoTS rarely travels alone. Your assessment also considers mast cell activation, hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, coeliac disease, thyroid disease and the effects of medication.

Treatment

Treatment combines practical, non-drug strategies with medication where it is needed, and it is adjusted to your life. No treatment suits everyone and responses vary, so your plan is reviewed at follow-up.

Frequently asked questions

If your question is not here, send a message and the practice will reply within one working day.

Is PoTS a heart condition?

PoTS affects the way the heart and circulation respond to standing. The heart itself is usually structurally normal, which is why tests at rest can look entirely normal.
It varies from person to person. Practical measures are started first and any medication is adjusted gradually, so your plan is reviewed at follow-up to see what is helping.
Yes. A first consultation can take place by video. If tests such as a tilt-table test are needed, they are arranged at one of the clinics.
